Sagittarius A
Description
Halo surrounding the Sgr A East shell. The presence of an 8 arcmin diameter (24 pcs) structure surrounding the Sagittarius A (Sgr A) East shell can be seen in this image. This structure consists of two largescale components. One is a halo which mimics closely the shape of Sgr A East shell elongated in the direction of the galactic plane. The second component is a system of radio protrusions seen in projection running perpendicular to the galactic plane in which the dynamical center of the Galaxy is imbedded.
Observing runs - 1982 September, 1983 May, and 1984 March at the VLA in B-, B/C-, and C/D- configurations using 27 antennas.
