1936-45 work with Watson-Watt on radar; 1949+ at Jodrell Bank with 218 ft fixed dish and various interferometers; the intensity interferometery in the radio and optical; physics debates thereover; move to Australia to build Narrabri instrument and accomplishments there; comments on optical astronomy conservatism regarding new techniques and on how one proceeds in science (very good); specific scientific results 1952-1960 on normal galaxies and radio sources, supernova remnants, models for galactic background, distribution of radio sources, etc.
