Frames 162 through 192: |
This second flare occurs about 17 hours after the first flare, a bit less than one rotation period for the Sco X-1 binary system, although this similarity may be coincidental. In many years of study of Sco X-1, changes in the radio emission are not correlated generally with the 18-plus-hour orbital period. As before, this flare in the radio core produces an increased density of energetic electrons which flow down both sides of the beam. Now watch the receding lobe on the right. |
