What do penicillin, Velcro and radio astronomy have in common? They were all accidental discoveries! Radio astronomy began some 70 years ago, when a young engineer, Karl Jansky, built a backyard antenna to investigate static caused by thunderstorms – and discovered radio signals from outer space by accident.

Cosmic Radio contains 26 programs. Each is two and a half minutes in length, long enough to explain a concept or a notable event in the history of radio astronomy and short enough to focus audience attention.
