NGC 4151 (18 cm)
Description
18-CM IMAGE: The above image is a false-color representation of the radio image of the center of the Seyfert galaxy NGC 4151, made at a wavelength of 18 cm (1.6 GHz frequency), using the VLBA. North is up and East is to the left in this image. The southwestern (lower right) region of this image, elongated somewhat east of north, contains the 2.6-light-year radio jet seen at higher resolution in the 6-cm image. This jet curves by an angle of approximately 55 degrees into the region of more extended radio emission, which extends along a relatively straight path somewhat to the north of due east. This elongated emission, having a total length of approximately 8 light years beyond the jet seen at 6 cm, is very well aligned with the 800-light-year radio jet previously observed.
