Description
AIPS (Astronomical Image Processing System) is a software package developed at NRAO for interactive calibration, construction, display and analysis of astronomical images made from radio interferometric data. Design and development of the package began in 1978. AIPS is designed to run, with minimal modifications, in a wide variety of computing environments. NRAO licensed the software to other institutions and provided support and updates. Some AIPS use occurs outside observational astronomy, e.g. in visualization of numerical sumulations of fluid processes and in medical imaging. This subunit includes correspondence, memos, and reports dated 1981-1999.
