Instructions for Speakers

All speakers must provide their presentation file(s) on a USB memory stick at least a half-day prior to their scheduled talk to one of the assistants who will load and test the presentation on the presentation computers. *All* presentations will be done from these computers. The computers consist of a Windows PC and a Mac. The Windows PC will have available PowerPoint 7, Open Office and Adobe Acrobat. The Mac will have PowerPoint 2008 and Keynote 09. (Please note that Internet access will not be available in the presentation room.) Speakers will be provided with a handheld remote for advancing through their presentation and a laser pointer.

Speakers will have a clear view of a monitor displaying a countdown timer. The timer settings:

• 30 Minute presentations: 25 minute countdown talk time, reset to 5 minute countdown for questions
• 25 Minute presentations: 20 minute countdown talk time, reset to 5 minute countdown for questions
• 20 Minute presentations: 15 minute countdown talk time, reset to 5 minute countdown for questions
• 15 Minute presentations: 13 minute countdown talk time, reset to 2 minute countdown for questions

Session chairs are responsible for making sure all the speakers in their session have their slides loaded and tested on the presentation computer ahead of time. The session chair will also have a view of the countdown display. Sessions will be kept on schedule.
